Julie Kappes is a native of southern Illinois. She attended
Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky to receive her
bachelor's degree in nursing in 1986. In 2002, after 15 years
of emergency nursing, she returned to the Medical College of
Georgia to become a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. She
started the pediatric department at MJWCHC in June of 2005.
Julie is married to Dr. Joe Kappes, a pediatrician in Augusta,
Georgia and has 4 children. She is active with the youth in her
church and is on the board of directors for Ambassadors
Community Organization, a downtown Augusta ministry for children
and youth, as well as Destino del Reino, a children's home in
Honduras.
